Dumbbell Benches - An All-In-One Workout Solution

Dumbbells are important equipment in melting body fat, burning consumed calories and building up lean muscle especially on the arms and shoulders. Of course, you can always perform dumbbell exercises on the floor but dumbbell benches are better for many reasons. You will be able to better isolate the muscles with the dumbbell exercises in addition to the fact that a dumbbell bench will provide for a storage area for the weightlifting equipment when not in use.

Types of Dumbbell Exercises

There are many types of dumbbell exercises that you can adopt, which should be performed with proper technique and form. Although a dumbbell is lighter than a barbell, it can still cause injuries when not properly used during exercise. You can start with these two basic exercises using dumbbells on a weight bench.

First, the dumbbell fly has its primary focus on the pectoral muscles and secondary focus on the triceps and shoulders. Instead of building thickness of muscles in the chest area, you will be developing its width, which is something that many novice bodybuilders fail to do.

You lie flat on the weight bench while both arms are holding dumbbells. Your hands are extended towards the ceiling with the palms facing each other. You will then lower your arms to each side until fully expanded like a bird expanding its wings and then go back to starting position.

Another exercise that can be performed on dumbbell benches is the dumbbell bench press. This is different from the dumbbell fly in that you will be pressing, not hugging. Also, its main benefit against the barbell press is that you have greater stretch and more efficient peak contraction with a dumbbell press.

To start, you hold the dumbbells while placed at the on-end of your knees or at mid-quad. You will then slowly lean back into the bench, lift the dumbbells up into your shoulders, and then all the way over your chest. Go back to starting position and repeat for the number of desired reps and sets. Your feet should be flat on the floor while your head, hips and upper back are pressed hard into the bench.

Examples of Dumbbell Weight Benches

You have so many choices in dumbbell benches in the market. You may also purchase a standard weight bench, if you want to, although a specialized dumbbell set does have its benefits.

One of the better products in the market is the Bodycraft F603 Flat Incline Dumbbell Bench can be adjusted from a flat zero-degree to an inclined 85-degree position. As such, you have 6 different positions from which to perform strength training exercises using dumbbells. Your knee will be protected during lat pulls, thanks to the back pad that also serves as a knee hold while the assist bar can be utilized as a foot bar. If it is multi-functionality you want, then we suggest the F603.

Indeed, dumbbell benches are as essential as any other gym equipment. But just like all gym equipment, you must actually use it to gain its benefits. So, get on that bench and start lifting weights instead of becoming a couch potato who cannot even lift his foot in front of the other foot.
