Choosing the Right Tap for Your Kitchen

For such a small kitchen feature, a tap has a huge affect to the design of the kitchen. It can either make or break the total look of the room and in many cases, a tired looking kitchen can look new and updated by simply choosing new taps - choosing the right one for your kitchen can be hard so we put this together to assist you in your shopping mission.

These days, the market is teeming with hundreds of styles and designs of taps that sometimes choosing what is right for your kitchen can very difficult. Like furniture and clothing, taps have trends too. Every year, new designs are released that it make it almost necessary to change your taps often to ensure that your kitchen design doesn't look so dated. Lots of people do this to stay on top of the design game!

Taps now come in many exciting finishes such as chrome, brushed stainless steel, elegant grey tones, brushed nickel, gold plated, brass finish and even plastic if you want it. With so many to choose from, how on earth can you make sure that you are choosing the right taps for your kitchen?

Well, the first and very important consideration when choosing the right tap for your kitchen is aesthetics. Your tap needs to fit in the look of your kitchen or at least how you want your kitchen to look. Usually, you would choose a tap that matches the look of your kitchen, so it makes sense that if your kitchen is ultra modern, you look for a tap with sharp square design, smooth curvature or ultra modern with a single control or perhaps even infra-red sensor control.

On the other hand, if your kitchen is traditional with wooden doors and ceramic sink then you might consider the traditional taps. High shine chrome finish is standard but, for softwoods in country kitchens or similar, a brass or gold finish can look impressive. This finish can give a kitchen a warm glow and can help achieve a country style look. It may also be a good idea to look for antique style ceramic taps.

The current trend in interior design is eclectic and the mixture of old and new is highly in fashion. So, if you are having a new modern kitchen with minimalist design, you can easily use a Victorian or Edwardian style tap as an accent to the whole kitchen interior without it looking out of place. The beauty of it is that, next time the trend changes, you can just easily replace your taps for an instant revamp.
