Not only does all work and no play make Jane a dull girl: it makes her depressed as well! What's the point of working so hard in this life if you're not going to enjoy yourself occasionally? Many think they can't afford to do so, but I'm going to tell you about some simple and inexpensive ways to live the life of luxury for the day, if not for an hour.
Sip This
Everyone stares at the one person drinking champagne in the restaurant. We feel like they are celebrating something and we want to be a part of it. But, the only times we order any is on birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and other special occasions. Next time you're at a bar, order a $10 or $12 glass of champagne and you'll feel like you're living it up during every sip, while everyone stares at you wondering, What's the occasion?
Do Lunch
Most restaurants offer a lunch menu that is significantly less expensive than their dinner menu, and expensive restaurants are no exception. Grab lunch at a pricey place you've been wanting to try and you can probably slip out just spending $30. For the longest time when my friend was starting out as a singing teacher and wanted to take potential clients to a meal (she was aiming for celebrity clientele) she would just take them to fancy places at lunch time to discuss singing lessons. Before she knew it, she was teaching high profile people how to sing.
Go to the (school) theater
If you live near a well-known, prestigious university or college, check in on their theater schedule. Often huge names in music, comedy, opera, you name it, make visits to well known universities, but charge significantly less for tickets than at regular venues.
Lots of massages
Would you be willing to commit to spending $35 a month on a massage, every month for the year? It's not that much money, and it's SUCH an indulgent experience. Plenty of massage locations have package options of 10, 12 and even more massages, in which the cost per massage becomes much cheaper than if you'd bought one individually. But, it's only really financially worth it if you buy the bundle. Because buying the massages one by one could cost you upwards of $50.
Rich hand-me-down's
If you're already into the thrift store/consignment store trend, great. You're halfway there. But, you need to learn to be selective. Think about it: you take your old clothes to just the nearest thrift store. So do the people in wealthy areas…so hunt at the used clothing stores in the wealthy area of your city. You'll find barely used designer goods from the wealthy women that live in the neighborhood
