Greatest Grand Canyon West Helicopter Adventures Flying From Las Vegas

Copyright (c) 2012 Grand CanyonTours of Las Vegas

From Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon, you will find plenty of tour types available. You'll discover air only flights and choices that combine rafting with them. In an effort to assist you with this process, the following article looks at the most popular flights you can choose. There is little doubt that you will have an exceptional experience when you book any of these choices.

Getting Our Bearings

When you look at Las Vegas helicopters, you will note that they only enter the Grand Canyon from the west along the West Rim. You will find that this part of the canyon is located only 125 miles from Las Vegas. Flight time is 45 minutes. If you are looking to visit the South Rim, you will need to combine the flight with a bus or airplane.

The West Rim is located on the Hualapai Indian Reservation, which borders the Grand Canyon National Park. It will be along this rim that you find the area is famous for a number of things, including the Skywalk. It's also the only place in the entire Park where you can fly to the bottom.

A Look at the West Rim Chopper Tours

There are two kinds of helicopter trips: Air tours and bottom-landing tours. Here's a look at the details:

1. An Air Only Flight. Flight from Vegas. Goes over Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam. Returns from the West Rim which gives a view of the Colorado River, Eagle Pint, Guano Point, Grand Cliffs Wash and the Skywalk. Total tour time is approximately 4 hours and comes with complimentary hotel shuttle service.

2. The Landing Tours. These trips follow the same route as the air tours but land in the Reservation. Specifically:

A. Standard Bottom Landing. It descends about 4,000 feet to the base of the canyon. Disembark, enjoy Champagne breakfast, brunch or toast. Explore the floor and riverbank. Trip duration is 5 hours and comes with free shuttle service.

B. A Bottom Landing Including Skywalk and Boat Combined with the above mentioned items, this includes a Colorado Boat ride and VIP passes for Skywalk. You will find that this is a 6 hour trip that will provide you with transportation to and from resort hotels.

C. Your Skywalk tour. Offers landing at the Grand Canyon West Airport. Shuttle ride to the Glass Bridge. Unlimited access on the observation deck, plus about two hours to explore the rim. You will find sights like Guano and Eagle points along with the Indian Cultural Center.

Book Early

These are the top choices for Las Vegas to Grand Canyon tours and they will sell quickly. It is best to reserve your spot at least a week in advance. Last minute flight booking can be difficult and because of that, only solo travelers would want to consider it.

Keep in mind that if you buy your tour in Las Vegas, you will pay too much. In an effort to get the best deal, take a look at the following steps:

1. Always book in advance (the earlier the better!)

2. Make sure you get your tour online.

3. Finalize the entire transaction.

You will find that #3 is a very important one. If for whatever reason you let an agent finish your online booking, you will in all likelihood be charged more. As a rule, modern websites will end up being secure and safe for you to use. Anymore, this is the only way I will buy and I personally have never had an issue before.

In Closing

Las Vegas is a great place from whence to take a Grand Canyon helicopter tour. Best of all there is plenty of options and the prices are competitive. Best of all; the West rime is less than an hour away. This is the only National Park that will allow you to fly to the bottom. So, as you plan your trip to Sin City, by all means add a canyon helicopter ride. It'll be the time of your life.
