The Right Golf Teacher Can Make All The Difference

Golf is a different game today, than it was when I first played 50 years ago. It is more popular and the game has changed because of technology. When I started, I could practice on the course as much as I wanted, because nobody played during the day.

But that did not mean that I did not have teachers. I tried to learn by watching golf swings of the pros on TV. They used words that I did not understand, but I tried to swing like they did.

Do you think that you need a golf pro to teach you? The reason people go to school is to learn. No matter what type of teachers you have, some are good, and some are not. It is the same for the golf profession. Not all professional golfers play at the same level, and not all teach at the same level either.

What level of golf do you want to be at? How much are you willing to practice? How much are you willing to spend to get where you want to be? These are questions to consider before deciding on taking golf lessons. You can take one-on-one lessons from your local pro, or group lessons, or even go to a golf camp. It all depends on how much you want to spend.

One thing about taking lessons is that after the first one, if you are not going to practice then it is a waste of money to take more lessons. A lesson from a pro is a good idea, but you might want to read up on golf through books or magazines so you know what to expect.

The more you know about the golf swing before you begin, the easier your lessons should go. Practice gripping the club, and go to the course and at least chip and putt. Do you think that you could teach yourself to play a musical instrument by yourself without a teacher? Learning to play golf without lessons probably is about the same.

Most of the basics can be learned from a book, but having a teacher will speed up the learning process, as long as you find the right teacher. Finding the right teacher will make the lessons a good experience. There are lots of golf teaching pros, so you should find one you believe in.

Going to a golf pro has only one purpose, and that is to learn how to play golf. If that is not what you want, then save your money. Not all teachers teach the same things, or in the same way, so do a little research before you commit to a golf coach. Make sure that you know what they want from you before you start.
