Colours-How Important They Are Even Though We Sometimes Don't Realise

Some people are more aware of colours than others, just in the same way as some people find music to be really important and others don't. Yet even for the people who are not so conscious of the colours around them, they may be surprised to know that regardless of this these colours do affect them.

Colours are a vibration; this is not meant in the hippy vibe sense this is just a reality. When it comes to your surroundings colours are highly important as they can affect your mood and emotions either negatively or positively.

Over the coming weeks this blog will feature each colour and describe what potential effects it can have on people in their environment. By understanding more about each colour you may find that you can tackle the room in the house that doesn't quite do it for you for some unknown reason (if you have a room like this!)

Yellow for example encourages the thinking process and so is ideal for home offices or study areas, however not so good in a bedroom!

Of course in each family there are different family members who have different personalities and are at different life stages, so each one probably has their own favourite colour. However there are colours which are more sociable, those which are more romantic and those which are more peaceful. Therefore if a room has a particular purpose then you can choose a colour which will promote the purpose of this room.

Remember that form follows function so in the same way as you probably won't put a bed in the sitting room, it is best not to put an unsociable colour in there.

There is a useful aid called a Colour Wheel and this shows us the complementary colours which lie opposite to each other. This is a simple trick to balance a room if you prefer to inject a second colour into the colour scheme.

If you prefer to make the injection of another colour or colours into a room more subtle, one idea is to use bombay duck colourful door knobs which come in a variety of designs and are an inexpensive chic way to add colour.

One way to start connecting more with colour is to enter a room in someone else's house and without thinking ask yourself how do you feel, what colour is predominant in the room and how does this affect you. Colour is powerful enough to deserve people who actually practise as colour therapists.
