How to Overcome Lack of motivation During Exercise

The numerous exercise tapes are taken from their dusty hiding places and health shakes, fruits and vegetables are stacked in the fridge. For the first week, maybe two, a strong regimen is upheld which involves a healthy diet and adequate exercise and then after a while the health foods begin to taste insipid and are then replaced by drinks, soda pops, cakes and snacks, while the exercise equipment may not be repacked and stuffed underneath the bed, they are often pushed aside and placed in a corner.

The fact is that many people find it hard to stay motivated when they decide to start and exercise routine, especially if it accompanied by a healthy diet. Some persons attempt it to get that "summer body" that will fit and look great into the new swim suit, while other persons need to actually become fit for health reasons. But no matter what your reasons are, chances are that you are also a victim of exercise de-motivation.

Before you start an exercise and diet routine, ensure that you are well aware of your reasons for doing so. If your reasons are to lose weight, because your weight may be deteriorating your health, ensure that it is firmly planted within your mind and you should even find something symbolic to represent it. If you are diabetic, get something that symbolizes that and try to have it with most of the time if you cannot have it all the time. If you have kids, you can probably walk around with a small picture that will remind that you do not only need to get and stay healthy for yourself, but also for them.

For those of you who are looking to lose those extra pounds so that you look and feel better in your clothing, you should also get something symbolic of your efforts. You could try to take out that outfit that you have wanted to wear again for such a long time but cannot because you are unable to fit in it. You can place the garment on a hanger and hang it up on the bedroom wall or on the closet door where you will see it regularly. This will help to keep you motivated because the goal is constantly in your face.

Try to also find an exercise buddy, someone who is in a similar situation and will know exactly what it is that you are going through. You can be the wall for this person and they can be the same for you. When exercise is being done, even though you are still responsible for your own share of the work, it stills seems less hard when someone else is there doing the same thing with you.

Develop a routine and try to follow it. When you make exercising an everyday part of your life, like brushing your teeth or eating breakfast, it will quickly become more natural even if it is still a chore.
