Does Invisalign Really Work

One question dental health care providers around the country are getting is, Does Invisalign really work?

The quick answer: Yes.

RealSelf.com quotes two doctors when discussing the topic. Bobby Virk, DMD, MSD and Bellevue Orthodontist, says that "invisalign works just as efficient as any other types of braces," and Tony Cucalon lll DDC, a San Francisco Orthodontist, says rather bluntly: "invisalign can correct (teeth) crowding."

For a more detailed exploration than you'd get from a Medicaid orthodontist, keep reading:

Of course, for anyone who may not know, invisalign braces or "fabricated aligners" as they are often called by orthodontists. are clear, removable teeth aligners typically used as more-private alternatives to the traditional metal braces. For generations, braces have been effective in adjusting peoples teeth, however they've been just as effective in embarrassing individuals who feel silly with a mouth full of metal.

Designed, manufactured, and produced by Align Technology, Inc., the invisalign technology is used by over 730,000 patients today who are able to adjust their smiles much less obviously.

The individual design is created by a computer, calculated specifically for that patients smile and to apply the ideal amount of pressure to shift the teeth into a desired position. At the time that the teeth rest comfortably in the personalized "fabricated aligner," a new individual design is created to continue the improvement.

While being invisible is the most well-know characteristic of the invisalign product, an additional advantage is the fact that a wearer can remove them (which is obviously impossible when dealing with traditional metal braces). However, they are only intended to be removed during eating, drinking, or brushing ones teeth, as the they cannot be effective if they spend the majority of their time some place other than the patients mouth

Another advantage is that a strong majority of patients also report less lip and gum irritation in comparison to wearers of traditional metal braces. This is because invisalign has significantly less protruding pieces, and therefore causes less discomfort.

To say invisalign is disadvantage-free in comparison to traditional metal braces is incorrect, however. Like any dental hygiene product, invisalign has its negative aspects. Because the piece is removable, it does not provide the constant correction that traditional braces do (as previously mentioned). Additionally, their effectiveness is much more reliant on the user's habits something a user off traditional metal braces need not concern themselves with.

However, these disadvantages are easily curtailed by the dedication of the patient, and any orthodontist would tell you the same thing.
