What Do You Wish

Don't wish it was easier; wish you were better. Don't wish for less problems; wish for more skills. Don't wish for less challenges; wish for more wisdom. Jim Rohn

What a powerful quote! When you read this quote what is your first thought? How quickly does it make you rethink your business philosophy? How quickly does it make you rethink your life philosophy?

We all wish things were easier. Why? Because easier is easier! (Look how much money Staples has make with the "easy button"—which doesn't even really do anything, but makes us feel better!) While we may not all be inherently lazy, we certainly don't like to make things harder than they need to be. Yet, many of us do exactly that.

When things are not easy, we are forced to either rise to the occasion or go down in defeat. Over time, our response to problems becomes habit which can make or break our future. If we learn to give up, then problems will always get the best of us and things will never be easier.

Learning also gives us more skills. How many times have you been offered the opportunity to listen to a presentation, but didn't want to take the time. How do you know what you missed? Maybe it was something that could make you better and thus make things easier!

Be a lifelong learner. Always look for new and better ways to do things. Always look for new skills you can learn and then use in your business or your life. The process of learning should always be part of your life.

We all face problems in our business. The skills become important since having the skills means being able to handle the problems. Or the skill comes in knowing where the resources are to find the answer to the problem. As the saying goes, knowledge is power.

If we are never challenged, we never grow. We all know people who have gone through life just going through life. They never challenge themselves and when faced with a challenge, they generally give up. They have never learned how to learn and never acquired the skills they needed to solve their problems. Do you see a common thread here?

People who thrive on challenges are the ones who are successful. People who constantly build their skill set and read are the ones that are ready to tackle any problems that come up. People that learn from their mistakes and have overcome many challenges become stronger in their business and their life. So, what do you wish?
