Top Stress Management Techniques

While some factors which cause stress can be avoided all together, it may not be possible to avoid all the factors. In such a situation, the wise thing to do would be to adapt to the factors that cause stress and treat them as natural and unexceptional. This will largely reduce the burden off your shoulders. While it may not always be possible to change the stressor, it is most often possible to change ourselves including our expectations, our behavior patterns, the way we react, our demands, etc. This method of approaching things can help us gain back the lost control of our life.

I am going to share a few tips that can help you adapt with the stressor in your day to day life. The first and the most important tip is to reframe the way you see problems. Sometimes problems and situations sound big only because of the way you look at it. It is always important to have a second look from a different perspective to get a better grasp of the situation. For example, you are badly stuck in a bad traffic jam. While your usual approach would be start fuming and getting anxious about the situation, you can have an alternate approach to the same. You can rather utilize this time to make your to-do list, listen to some good piece of music or even update your family about your current situation. This kind of positive attitude can help you in a big way in the long run and it also helps you save on time and energy.

Analyze your stressful situation properly. Understand how big and impactful the situation is. Is it big enough to affect you in weeks and months to come? If the answer to those questions is no perhaps the situation is not big enough in the current time frame also and is not worth getting upset over and increasing your stress levels. Though I understand that these things are better said than done, if you work regularly on these things, it might surely give you positive results soon.

Another important factor responsible for causing stress in a normal human being is the quest for perfection. We need to accept the fact the perfectionism is difficult or sometimes impossible to achieve. Hence rather than expecting things to be perfect, it is always advisable to set some reasonable standards for yourself and also for people around you. This will help relieve stress for you in both the short and long run. We need to accept the fact that "good enough" is actually enough and do not run after getting things perfect.

The last lesson or technique is to learn to focus on all things positive in life. Spare time with yourself and reflect on all good things in life including the laugh of your kid, the nature, etc and thank god for what you have in your possession.
