Are the Toxic Chemicals in Your Food Making you Sick

Our general standard of living has risen over the years whilst our general state of health has substantially declined. Certain diseases and illnesses have skyrocketed. Have you ever wondered why?

As food technology and food science as "progressed", we have gradually been exposed to an increasing range of poisonous substances that have been added to our foods. It's no coincidence that we have seen a proliferation of new diseases and a huge increase in known diseases. This "reversal of fortunes" is directly attributable to the chemicals that are being added to our foods.

The human body, a truly divine creation, is designed to operate on naturally occurring organic foods. It was not designed to deal with toxic chemicals. The continued exposure to, and ingestion of toxic compounds, will ultimately destroy your health if you don't become more proactive.

One such chemical is called bisphenol A (BPA), and is used to make plastics hard. Exposure to BPA is believed to come from the linings of canned foods, especially acidic foods like soda and tomato sauce. Coca-Cola and Pepsi have both confirmed that BPA is used in the linings of their beverage containers.

There is mounting evidence to suggest that ongoing exposure to BPA may be contributing to a numerous medical conditions, including prostate cancer, breast cancer, early puberty onset, alterations in gender-specific behavior, decreased sperm count, affects on fertility, affects on obesity and insulin resistance, behavioral effects including hyperactivity, increased aggressiveness, impaired learning and other changes in behavior.

BPA apparently mimics naturally occurring estrogen, a hormone that is part of the endocrine system, the body's finely-tuned messaging service.

In January 2010, the FDA finally came to their senses and expressed their concerns about possible health risks from BPA. Their announcement stated that they had "some concerns about the potential effects of BPA on the brain, behavior and prostate gland of fetuses, infants and children" and would join other federal agencies in studying the chemical in both animals and humans. One wonders why it has taken the FDA so long to wake up and finally take some action. Despite the FDA's concern, they have not banned the chemical's use in plastics which means that it is still in our food supply.

There are other toxic chemicals that you should be aware of. High fructose corn syrup (also known as HFCS)and aspartame are two sweeteners that should be avoided at all cost.

Life is all about choices. You can choose to be unhealthy, or you can achieve optimal health by making healthy life choices. You will live longer and healthier if you don't buy any foods containing toxic chemicals
