Planning to surprise your girlfriend with an engagement party may be a task that you cannot do by yourself. Before anything else, look for a worthy engagement ring. If you have the budget, then an impressive ring should be considered. Some cuts are actually patented because they are so valuable. Some companies even mark the stones so you know you're getting the best. If you're looking to impress her, this is one way to do it!

Getting the ring is one aspect, and though it may be the most important one, there are other aspects that must be considered. Here are some foods for thoughts or ideas which may be useful to you when deciding to surprise your girlfriend:

- Get help from friends and family. Especially if you are close to them, they will all help in making this engagement a surprise. Get input on when is the best place to propose to her. Some may suggest a private moment; others may opt for having an outing or a dinner of sorts. Get all their suggestions and then see what the best option may be. When this is done, inform them on what course of action to take. You can actually do this planning a week before if needs be, but the more time, the better.

- Make sure it remains a surprise. This is one of the few times where keeping her in the dark is a good thing. The less people you have to tell, the better. If possible, maybe tell her best friend and her parents about your plans. Invite them for a dinner or have coffee with them and tell them of your plans. - If in a dinner, do not put the engagement ring in the dessert. You have seen it done before in movies and more often than not, it can be disastrous. You can have it served as a dessert in a box, but not as part of the food whether it is a cake, black forest, tiramisu and a peach cobbler.

- Prepare for anything. Hope she says yes, but prepare for the other answer. Unfortunately, women have been known to be some flaky at times! However, you can also have some consolation that women are also known to change their mind!
