Internet Marketing Tip - Social Networking Can Bring Herds Of Instant Traffic

Social Networking is a must if you are serious about building your online business. When done correctly it is extremely effective as well as being FREE.

For anyone unfamiliar with social networking I am talking about sites such as Facebook, Bebo, Twitter, Hi5, Digg, Friendster, Flickr, Myspace and the list just goes on.

Since the launch of Web 2.0 Social Networking has become one of the most effective ways to create an online presence for your Internet success. Many Internet marketing experts get noticed by commenting on other users content, posting articles, audio, videos and much more. It has become more widely used as Internet connections get faster and computer graphics get better. The effect of social networking sites can be so good you really don't want to overlook the benefits that they can bring to your business.

Social Networking explained:

MySpace, Facebook and Twitter are just three of the biggest social networking sites on the Internet today, with more than 9 million members and over 70 million visitors. Just imagine how your business would benefit from tapping in to the instant streams of traffic these sites receive, it almost seems daft not to use this traffic to your advantage.

Getting Started:

To take advantage of the opportunities these sites can bring to your business simply create an account and go on to fill out your profile. Please note that when filling out your profile keep it based around your business not your personal life and make sure you list all your websites because people will look at your profile so keep it as professional as you can. It's always better to have a separate account for your business because your friends will always view your business in a different light to your professional network. Make sure you have all your websites listed in your profile as other users looking to network with people that have similar interest to those of their own will look at it and they will then go on to check out your website or sites if you have more than one.

When using social networking sites it's important you target your own niche, so don't just go posting random posts. Every time you make a post it will be visible to all the names within your networking list, meaning you can advertise your business and any promotions or updates you may be doing at that time.

Building Your Network:

Once you have created an account and filled out your profile you need to start building your targeted network. All you have to do is search for others with the same interest as yours (keep this related to your niche). Go on to send them a friend request but make sure you add a personal message letting them know who you are, what you do, why you have contacted them and so on always making sure you are very professional and polite at all times.

Once they have accepted your request as most will do as long as you approach them in the right way, you need to establish yourself as an expert in your field by making regular posts that are informative, useful and helpful. Take a look at Twitter to see what kind of things others are talking about. I use Twitter as an example because a lot of business users have great success on there, it's one of the biggest business networks around. When posting try to give advice, tips and useful information then occasionally slip a promotion in there. This could be for a product you have created, or maybe you are promoting an affiliate product. Alternatively you could be giving something away to build your mailing list.
