Your face in many instances will give away how you feel and think. The fatty deposits in the chin and jaw line or neck area give the impression of fatigue and give a tired look. While dieting and exercising might be affective for other parts of your body, you will find that the facial fatty deposits are among the most resistant. Facial liposuction can make a dramatic difference in your appearance by removing the excess of fat.
Diet and exercise can help many areas of the body, but nothing seems to affect fatty deposits in your cheeks, jaw line or neck.
Who can benefit from the procedure?
Any woman or man who has fatty deposits and is in good health along with good skin elasticity. Still you should contact or schedule an appointment with your plastic surgeon to see if you are a good or a perfect candidate for this procedure, to be sure and discuss what your expectations are and what can this procedure do for you, also to check your medical background and condition to avoid any complications before, during, and after the surgery.
Is the fat removal permanent ?
Yes!
After puberty we gain weight not by creating new fatty cells but rater by expanding the existing fatty cells. The facial liposuction permanently reduces the number of the fatty cells allowing for a proper facial contouring. You can still gain fat after liposuction however it will remain in proportion with the rest of the body.
How is the procedure performed ?
The procedure is performed in our operating room inside our surgery center. Local anesthesia is used, in many instances there is no need for sedation, however this is available should you need it. The procedure is done using a surgical high power sub atmospheric pressure pump to suck out the excess of fat. This procedure might have to be combined with a face and neck lift in the older patients however if the skin elasticity and age is appropriate this procedure is performed along. Typically there is no need to repeat the procedure in the future.
What will the recovery be like ?
There will be an incision requiring 1 or 2 small stitches under the chin, you will need a elastic dressing to be worn for a few days, you will be recommended to relax for the rest of the day at home and resume your activity the next morning. If needed pain relievers can be used.
