Dog Training: Be a Neighborly Dog Owner

The golden rule by the great Chinese philosopher Confucius can be applied to practically every single aspect of life. Dog ownership and dog training are no exceptions to this rule. So being a responsible dog owners entails you making sure that your furry best friend does not cause any harm or trouble to your neighbors as much as you would not want your neighbor's pets to disturb or bother you.

To bring your neighbors and your dogs closer to you, you can do the following tips:

1. Teach your dog. You don't need to be an expert to train your dog the basics. With simple dog training, your dog should be learn where to sleep, where to poop, when to bark, and so on. These basics should teach him how to properly behave inside and outside your home.

2. Socialize your dog. If your neighbor has a dog, take time to let them play together so they won't bark at each other or your neighbor with every sight. As a responsible dog owner, you should train your dog not to bark at your friendly neighbors because aside from the fact that it can be rude, a dog barking behind your neighbors back can also be annoying.

3. Treat your furry pet nicely and properly. Remember that your dog's character largely reflects how you treat him. So make sure to give him proper attention and see to it that he gets all his needs like food, a safe and comfortable shelter, vaccination, and the likes right on time.

4. Make your dog feel comfortable and safe. Pets that are well taken cared of are always happy. When properly taken cared of, dogs grow healthy and friendly. Regularly bathe him, feed him on time, and make sure he's always comfortable and safe.

5. Give him a safe and conducive environment. To avoid seeing your dog sleeping on your neighbor's front mat, give him proper dog training that would make him sleep in his doghouse and prevent him from sleeping wherever he wants to. Keep the doghouse clean, spacious, and well-ventilated to make him want to lie inside instead of sleeping and resting just about anywhere where he can be stepped on and accidentally bite your neighbors and children.

6. Be a responsible dog owner. As part of being a responsible dog owner, you should ensure that you would collect your dog's mess if he was not able to poop on his intended pooping area. You should also make sure that your dog would not wander around disturbing your neighbors in any way.
