Your appearance is something that is going to be evaluated by everyone who sees you no matter where you are, whether it's as you pass someone in the street and they see you or you need to dress specifically for an event like going to court or for work where you are required to dress professionally to appeal to clients. Your attire includes everything from your shirt to your pants, jewellery, hair, and of course your choice of what type of shoes to wear.
You first need to consider the environment you will be integrated into. The types of shoes that you wear are going to reflect you as a person in the right type of environment. On a typical day when you aren't doing anything special you may find yourself wearing sneakers or casual shoes but if you have to make an appearance in court you will not appear as upstanding as you should. Sneakers are good for running or conducting errands but not if you are showing your face in court. In circumstances such as these you should be wearing something that is a bit more upstanding.
As a general rule you are going to want to wear a type of shoe that has a closed toe on it. They will appear very professional and show that you have respect for the environment you are currently in. The best colour to choose for your shoes is black. You can never go wrong by choosing a black shoe that fits with any outfit you happen to be wearing to complement the shoes.
It should go without saying that any shoes you wear should be in very good condition and not have any marks on them that take away from their appeal. Don't go into a court room with shoes that are scuffed up or dirty because they will detract away from the reason you are actually there. You may want to polish them before you decide to go in because they will make you look sharp and on top of your game.
When it comes to choosing whether or not to have a heel on the shoe you can consider a small enough one that won't cause you difficulty when walking. If the heels are a few inches high you may end up appearing like you are having issues walking and clumsy. You may even trip over your own feet which really would not look good for whoever you are trying to make an impression on.
Court is an entirely different environment than most people are used to and this means that when you walk into it you need to be prepared to look a different way than you would on a typical day in the street.
